Robin Jacobs
I
was born in Bovey Tracey in 1964 and have lived in Devon
all my life. I had no interest in photography until around
1990 when I gave up motorbikes and rally cars for a pair
of walking boots and started exploring Dartmoor. When
it was not raining the landscapes took my breath away
so I soon brought an SLR and started reading various photo
magazines which opened up a whole new world to me.
It
is only in the last few years that I feel my work is of
a reasonable standard having binned hundreds of slides
in the early years. I prefer to work alone enjoying the
solitude which is a world away from my full time job as
a motor vehicle technician in a busy garage in Exeter.
I now live in Okehampton, Devon, on the edge of Dartmoor
and although landscapes are my favourite, I plan to photo
a lot of the local towns and villages. I love the work
of Joe Cornish and David Noton, which is stunning and
have just started using a 645 system along with my 35mm
outfit.
